Cullowhee, NC (Sports Network) - Damian Saunders tallied a career-best 24 points to go along with 11 rebounds, as the Duquesne Dukes cruised to a 70-52 win over the Binghamton Bearcats in the Cullowhee Subregional of the CBE Classic.
Billy Clark tied a career-high with five three-pointers and finished with 17 points for the Dukes (3-0), who will play Arkansas-Monticello Tuesday evening. B.J. Monteiro added 10 points in the win.
Moussa Camara paced Binghamton (1-3) with 16 points. Greer Wright chipped in with 12 points and Dylan Talley scored 11 for the Bearcats, who will take on host Western Carolina on Tuesday.
After racing out to a 14-2 lead, Duquesne cooled off a bit and Binghamton trimmed the deficit to 18-13 midway through the opening half. Clark scored 14 of his 17 points in the first half, helping the Dukes to a 41-25 lead at the break.
The Bearcats tried to get back into it with three-pointers in the second stanza, but they hit just 2-of-13 attempts over the final 20 minutes.
Binghamton committed 19 turnovers in the game, and Duquesne took advantage by holding an 18-8 edge in points off turnovers.
