Ruston, LA (Sports Network) - Nick Montana threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns in Tulane's 24-15 win over Louisiana Tech on Thursday.
Montana, the son of NFL Hall of Famer Joe Montana, finished 20-of-36 for the Green Wave (2-1, 1-0 C-USA), who trailed 9-7 at the half but outscored the Bulldogs 17-6 over the final 30 minutes.
Orleans Darkwa ran the ball 20 times for 68 yards and a touchdown and Rob Kelley tallied 87 yards on the ground on nine totes.
Tevin King had 14 carries for 88 yards and added 40 yards receiving on three catches for Louisiana Tech (1-2, 0-1), which made its Conference USA debut.
Lorenzo Doss intercepted Ryan Higgins' pass on the Bulldogs' fourth play of their initial drive of the second half, which led to a Cairo Santos 51-yard field goal.
Following a Louisiana Tech punt, Montana led Tulane on an 11-play, 94-yard march, which was capped on his 38-yard TD strike to Xavier Rush to give the Green Wave a 17-9 spread late in the third.
Tyler Gilbert recovered a fumble at the Louisiana Tech 2-yard line midway through the fourth and Darkwa ran in for the score a play later to make it 24-9.
Higgins hit Trent Taylor for an 8-yard TD pass with 3:44 left in the game to cap the scoring.
Earlier, a pair of Kyle Fischer field goals -- 25 and 27 yards -- staked the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead before Montana's 24-yard TD pass to Ryan Grant late in the first gave Tulane the advantage.
Fischer nailed a 37-yard field goal early in the second to make it 9-7 in favor of the Bulldogs.
