A Long Beach, California native, Etem is the eighth-ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting...In his rookie season with Medicine Hat of the WHL in 2009-10, Etem notched 65 points (37 goals, 28 assists) in 72 games...Led all WHL rookies in goals during the 2009-10 campaign...Etem played for the U.S. Under-17 National Team Development Program in 2008-09 and posted 45 points (23g, 22a) in 50 games...Comes from a very successful rowing family. Etem's mother, Patricia, rowed for the U.S. at the 1984 Summer Olympics and his father, Rick, rowed for the Naval Academy in college.
