MVSU head coach Totten steps down

Itta Bena, MS (Sports Network) - Mississippi Valley State head football coach Willie Totten stepped down from his post on Tuesday.

Totten was at the helm since 2001, taking an 0-11 club to a 5-6 record in 2002, then recording back-to-back winning seasons in 2005-06. Overall, he posted a 31-57 record in eight seasons.

Totten, who quarterbacked the Delta Devils when his receiver was Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, will continue to serve the university in other capacities, namely faculty member and academic advisor.
