Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Navy Midshipmen ran for 471 yards and nine touchdowns in a 63-14 rout of the Rice Owls in non-conference play at Rice Stadium.
Quarterback Ricky Dobbs ran for 104 yards and scored four times as the Midshipmen (4-2) won their third straight and picked up their first road victory of the season. Kriss Proctor also got involved with 82 yards and three scores on the ground.
Nick Fanuzzi, who returned to the lineup after missing two games with a separated shoulder, threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns for the Owls (0-6). He was also picked off twice.
Navy scored on its first five possessions on the way to building a 35-7 halftime lead.
Dobbs gave the Midshipmen a 14-0 lead in the first quarter went he scored on runs from two and 12 yards, respectively.
Dobbs scored his third touchdown on a one-yard run two minutes into the second quarter before Vince Murray scored on a seven-yard scamper to give Navy a 28-0 advantage.
Marcus Curry extended the Midshipmen's margin to five touchdowns when he scored from a yard out with three minutes left in the half.
Fanuzzi got Rice on the board with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Randolph two minutes later.
Dobbs scored his fourth touchdown of the afternoon on a 13-yard run five minutes into the third quarter. Proctor followed up with a pair of one-yard runs to extend Navy's lead to 56-7 early in the fourth quarter.
Fanuzzi and Randolph connected for Rice on a 12-yard scoring pass before Proctor scored his third touchdown of the day on a one-yard run with just over six minutes left in the game.
Navy scored touchdowns all nine times it reached the red zone and held the ball for more than 40 minutes.
