Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Tyrod Taylor ran for 74 yards and passed for 48 yards to lead the Virginia Tech Hokies to a 20-17 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in ACC action.

Darren Evans led the ground attack with 94 yards and a touchdown for Virginia Tech (2-1), which has won two in a row since a season-opening loss to East Carolina.

Josh Nesbitt rushed for 151 yards and passed for 109 yards in the setback for Georgia Tech (2-1).

With the score tied at 17-17, Virginia Tech's Dustin Keys capped an 11-play, 76-yard drive with a 21-yard field goal that gave his team a 20-17 edge. The Hokie defense tightened in the final minutes to preserve the narrow conference victory.

The only points scored in the first quarter came on a 32-yard field goal by Georgia Tech's Scott Blair.

Less than two minutes into the second quarter, Virginia Tech took a 7-3 lead with an eight-yard touchdown run by Evans.

With 3:44 remaining in the first half, the Yellow Jackets regained the lead on a 41-yard touchdown pass from Nesbitt to Roddy Jones. The extra point attempt was blocked, making the score 9-7 in favor of Georgia Tech.

Virginia Tech made the most of its final drive in the first half, as it marched 43 yards in one minute. The short march was capped by a two-yard touchdown run by Taylor with only 10 seconds remaining on the clock. At intermission, the Hokies owned a 14-9 advantage.

After a scoreless third quarter, a 25-yard field goal by Keys pushed Virginia Tech's edge to 17-9. That kick came with just over one minute gone in the final frame.

Georgia Tech managed to tie the score at 17-17 with 9:28 left in the fourth quarter. Josh Nesbitt reached the end zone on an 18-yard run, and Nesbitt completed a pass to Lucas Cox for a successful two-point conversion.

Virginia Tech did not commit a single turnover in the clash while forcing three Georgia Tech turnovers.
