NCAA Game Summary - New Mexico State at Utah State

Logan, UT (Sports Network) - Chuckie Keeton accounted for four touchdowns as the Utah State Aggies routed the New Mexico State Aggies 41-7 in a Western Athletic Conference matchup at Romney Stadium.
Keeton threw for 257 yards and two touchdowns on 16-of-26 passing and added seven carries for 81 yards and two more scores. Kerwynn Williams also displayed his versatility for the Aggies (6-2, 2-0 WAC). He ran for 82 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries and caught three passes for 94 yards and a score.
New Mexico State (1-6, 0-3) quarterback Andrew Manley threw for 177 yards and a touchdown on 19-of-37 passing. He also threw an interception. Germi Morrison led NMSU with 19 carries for 96 yards, and Austin Franklin caught eight passes for 84 yards and the team's lone touchdown. Donte Savage led the defense with two sacks.
Utah State used a couple of big plays to jump out to an early halftime lead. On the host Aggies' first play from scrimmage, Keeton connected with Williams for a 76-yard touchdown pass. Later in the quarter, Chuck Jacobs was the recipient of another Keeton touchdown pass, this one from 48 yards. Utah State held a 14-0 lead after the first period.
Keeton added to the lead early in the second quarter when he ran 76 yards for a touchdown, the longest run of his career. Williams added to the lead with his second touchdown of the game late in the first half, capping a 10-play, 69-yard drive. Utah State led 28-0 at the break.
Despite the lopsided score, NMSU matched Utah State with 11 first downs in the half and ran 15 more plays.
Nick Diaz gave Utah State a 31-0 lead when he kicked a career-long 53-yard field goal early in the third quarter. Diaz also kicked a 48-yard field goal later in the game.
NMSU finally got on the board when Manley hooked up with Franklin for a six- yard touchdown. Franklin had caught a 29-yard pass on the previous play to put the Aggies in scoring position.
Keeton added another rushing touchdown to round out the scoring for Utah State, which gained 516 yards of total offense.
Utah State becomes bowl eligible with the win and improves to 33-7 all-time against New Mexico State.
