GAME NOTES: The Georgia State Panthers will try to keep a 12-game win streak alive as they host the South Alabama Jaguars in Sun Belt Conference action at GSU Sports Arena.

South Alabama has had a hard time getting in the win column this season, having lost three in a row and nine of its last 10 games. The Jaguars are coming off a 62-58 defeat at the hands of Arkansas-Little Rock. USA is 1-7 in conference play this season.

Georgia State lost four consecutive games earlier this season, but turned things around starting with a win over Old Dominion on Dec. 14. The Panthers haven't lost a game since that point, winning 12 in a row, including a 101-91 overtime victory over Texas-Arlington Saturday.

South Alabama leads the all-time series between these two teams, 13-5. The Jaguars also hold a 5-3 advantage against Georgia State in Atlanta. The Panthers, however, won an earlier matchup, 73-63, with South Alabama in the first week of January.

South Alabama attempted to make a comeback in the second half of Saturday's loss to UALR, but it fell just short as the Jaguars dug themselves too deep a hole to climb out of in the first half. Antoine Allen and Augustine Rubit each netted 14 points for South Alabama in the loss. Rubit also tallied nine rebounds in the loss. Ken Williams notched 10 points to round out the double- digit scorers for USA, which shot 43.5 percent from the floor.

Rubit leads the team in scoring this season with 16.4 ppg on 44.8 percent shooting from the field. Rubit's 9.8 rpg is a team best, and his 24 blocked shots is second behind Mychal Ammons. Allen is the only other South Alabama player to average double digits, netting 10.5 ppg. Barrington Stevens leads the team with 49 assists on the year, but averages just 6.9 ppg. The Jaguars are scoring an average of 68.8 ppg this year.

Devonta White connected on a 3-point field goal with .4 seconds remaining that knotted the Georgia State-UT Arlington score at the end of regulation and forced an overtime period. The Panthers ran away with the extra frame, winning by 10 points and pushing its win streak to 12 consecutive games. R.J. Hunter netted 31 points to pace the Panthers, and White netted 30 in the win. Ryan Harrow also chipped in 22 points to help the Panthers to victory.

Hunter and Harrow have separated themselves from the rest of the pack in terms of scoring numbers this season for Georgia State. Hunter leads the team with a 20 ppg clip on 45.9 percent shooting, while Harrow checks in at second with 18 ppg. Manny Atkins (13.3 ppg) and White (11.1 ppg) are third and fourth in scoring, respectively. White tops the squad with 95 assists, and Atkins leads in rebounding with a 6.0 rpg.

Georgia State's hot start to conference play likely won't come to an end against a South Alabama squad that has struggled recently. The Panthers have proven to be a well-rounded team with plenty of scoring.
