Green Bay, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Greg Mays tallied 22 points as the Green Bay Phoenix defeated the Wright State Raiders, 62-55, in a Horizon League clash at the Resch Center.
Keifer Sykes netted 18 points, brought down six rebounds and dished out five assists for Green Bay (18-4, 8-1 Horizon), while Mays contributed six rebounds in the win. The Phoenix have won 13 of their last 14 games.
JT Yoho was the only player for Wright State (13-12, 5-5) to score in double figures, netting 15 points and grabbing eight rebounds in the losing effort. The Raiders have lost three straight contests.
Green Bay connected on 41.4 percent of its shots in the first half, but went just 1-of-10 from 3-point range in the frame. The Phoenix held a slim 29-27 lead at the intermission. Wright State hit 37.9 percent of its field goal tries in the period, and went 4-of-8 from distance.
Green Bay stepped it up in the second half, hitting 52.2 percent of its shots from the floor compared to 37 percent for Wright State. The Phoenix created some separation in the second frame by outscoring the Raiders, 33-28.
The Phoenix had the edge in points in the paint, 32-20, and from the free- throw line, 11-5. Wright State gained the advantage in bench points, 24-8.
