Final Score: Seton Hall 68, Xavier 60
Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Fuquan Edwin scored a team-high 18 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Seton Hall Pirates captured a 68-60 win over the Xavier Musketeers in a Big East Conference bout at the Cintas Center.
Jaren Sina came off the bench to produce 12 points and four assists for the Pirates (13-9, 4-5 Big East), followed by Brandon Mobley and Sterling Gibbs with 11 and 10 points, respectively, as they won for the second time in the last three outings.
Semaj Christon led the way for the Musketeers (15-6, 5-3) with a game-high 21 points and six assists, but he also turned the ball over five times and shot just 5-of-9 at the free-throw line. Matt Stainbrook registered a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, but still Xavier lost for the second time in as many games.
Seton Hall led by as many as nine points in the first half, but the team allowed the Musketeers to make good on 52.4 percent from the floor, providing the hosts with a 28-27 edge at the break.
After making only 5-of-11 at the charity stripe through the first 20 minutes of action, Xavier again struggled at the line (11-of-17) in the second half, which is one of the reasons why the team suffered the setback.
In a game that featured five ties and 10 lead changes, the Pirates held the host to only 2-of-14 behind the 3-point line.
Xavier entered the contest having won 13 straight home games.
