Final Score: Nebraska 60, Miami-Florida 49
Lincoln, NE (SportsNetwork.com) - Terran Petteway scored 14 points and blocked three shots as he helped guide the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a 60-49 win over the Miami Hurricanes as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Huskers (6-2), as they claimed their third straight win, was Walter Pitchford with 13 points, while Leslee Smith contributed seven points and 10 rebounds.
The Hurricanes (5-4) were paced by Rion Brown who tallied a game-high 25 points on 5-of-11 shooting behind the 3-point line. No one else on the Miami roster scored more than five points on the night.
The visitors made a grand total of just six field goals in the first half, shot 1-of-12 beyond the arc and failed to make a single appearance at the free-throw line as they fell behind by a 22-13 score at the break.
In the second half the 'Canes were able to increase their shooting accuracy considerably, hitting on 40.0 percent from the floor and 6-of-13 on the perimeter, but by then it was too little, too late in the double-digit decision.
Nebraska picked up the win despite shooting only 39.1 percent from the field.
