Description: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that cornerback Aqib Talib has re-signed with the Patriots.
Insight: It's a one-year contract worth $5 million. The former first-round pick collected 40 tackles and two interceptions in 10 games last season. He played his first four games with the Buccaneers before being dealt to New England just prior to November's trade deadline. Talib sat out four games last season after testing positive for Adderall, a banned substance under the league's collective bargaining agreement.

Description: WEEI's Christopher Price doesn't think the Patriots will be able to retain impending free agent Aqib Talib.
Insight: Price writes, "Aqib Talib is going to get paid this offseason. It won't be by the Patriots, but he'll get paid." Talib, acquired from the Buccaneers in a trade earlier this season, told reporters after Sunday's loss to Baltimore that he "definitely enjoy[s] being a Patriot," but also hinted that he'd test the open market. The Patriots have plenty of decisions to make this offseason, one of them being whether or not the team can afford to keep impending free agent Wes Welker. If the team cuts Welker loose, they'd probably be much more inclined to keep Talib.

Description: New England cornerback Aqib Talib went down with a hip injury during the first half and his return is questionable.
Insight: Talib has three tackles so far tonight while playing tight defense on Texans receiver Andre Johnson. If he's unable to make a comeback in the second half, Alfonzo Dennard should see most of the snaps at left corner the rest of the game.

Description: The Patriots newly acquired cornerback, Aqib Talib, is eligible to return from his four-game suspension in time for Sunday's game against Indianapolis.
Insight: Talib served a four-game suspension for violating the league's drug policy. Talib has shutdown ability, though it is unlikely that he'll be ready to go this week. If he's playing up to his capability he could make the Patriots secondary, which is giving up 285 ypg, much stronger.

11/1/2012 7:29:00 PM
Description: The Patriots swooped in right before the trade deadline Thursday to pick up troubled cornerback Aqib Talib from the Buccaneers for a 2013 fourth-round pick.
Insight: Talib is currently serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's drug policy. He's also been in trouble with the law in the past, but he has clear shut-down ability when he's on the field and the Patriots are taking a small risk that he'll straighten out.

10/13/2012 3:37:00 PM
Description: Buccaneers CB Aqib Talib has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Insight: Talib used the banned substance Adderall, the same stimulant that got Browns cornerback Joe Haden suspended for four games this season. Tampa Bay is already last in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game and the absence of Talib won't help. Talib will miss games against the Chiefs, Saints, Vikings and Raiders.

Description: Buccaneers CB Aqib Talib, who is alleged to have fired a gun at his sister's boyfriend, has been indicted on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and could face 2-20 years in jail if convicted. Bucs CB Ronde Barber, a team leader and close friend of head coach Raheem Morris, recently said the Bucs shouldn't release Talib if he's acquitted. Veteran TE Kellen Winslow recently expressed similar feelings on the matter, saying the Bucs need to have to Talib to contend for a title. PFW reported in April that no decision on Talib would be made by the team until his court case was complete. Barber and Winslow are making it clear to the organization that they fully would support keeping Talib. The decision on Talib ultimately will be made by GM Mark Dominik and ownership, but the players are doing what they can to grease the skids for him to stay. SOURCE: PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY

Insight: The best player in the secondary, this is a huge blow to the Buccaneers and their chances of making the playoffs. Talib led the team in interceptions (6) and pass breakups (11). Expect team's to pick on Elbert Mack going forward.

12/5/2010 6:45:00 PM
Description: Bucs CB Aqib Talib has been on the sidelines much of the first half of the Bucs Week 13 match up with Atlanta.
Insight: We're not sure if he's injured, being disciplined, or something else. Nevertheless, the Bucs and Falcons are tied at 14 without him on the field. No word on whether or not he'll play in the second half.

Description: Fox Sports.com's Jay Glazer reports, via Twitter, that Talib has been suspended for one game and fined two game checks for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Insight: Talib will miss the first game of the season without pay against the Browns. He was eventually cleared of a simple battery and resisting arrest charge.

4/19/2010 9:59:00 PM
Description: The St. Petersburg Times reports Talib will be cleared of the simple battery charges against him when he completes anger management classes.
Insight: The incident in question was when Talib allegedly punched a cab driver last August. Since he is a first-time offender of the league's personal conduct policy, he should not receive any discipline from the league. (SportsBuff.com)

12/4/2009 7:53:00 PM
Description: Talib (hamstring) is listed as questionable for this week's game against Carolina.
Insight: He hasn;t practiced all week and will likely be a game time decision. He's one of Tampa's best defensive players, so, if he can't go, upgrade Steve Smith. (SportsBuff.com)

11/10/2009 11:59:00 AM
Description: According to the Tampa Tribune, Talib's trial on a misdemeanor batter charge continued on Monday.
Insight: Talib is charged with hitting a cab driver in August, and had pled not guilty. He may not have to deal with this until after the season, so he should be able to continue to play. (SportsBuff.com)

8/20/2009 11:09:00 AM
Description: Talib was reportedly arrested early Thursday morning for simple battery and resisting arrest. (Tampa Tribune)
Insight: The Buccaneers may take in-house action, but it is unknown if Talib would face any punishment from the league. (SportsBuff.com)

3/4/2009 10:28:00 PM
Description: Former Buc Philip Buchanon agreed to a deal with the Lions on Wednesday, leaving a starting job open with his old team.
Insight: That should only enhance Talib's chances at cracking the lineup in 2009. Talib is a highly athletic player who could have an Antonio Cromartie type of impact. Of course, both guys are boom-or-bust players, so tread carefully. (SportsBuff.com)

2/17/2009 9:55:00 PM
Description: Pro Football Weekly reports that the Bucs would like to decrease Ronde Barber's role in the defense.
Insight: The focus seems to be on Philip Buchanon more right now, but Talib is probably the most talented defensive back on the team. Just check out his four interceptions and nine other pass breakups as mostly a sub-package player. He looks like an IDP sleeper for 2009. (SportsBuff.com)
