Final Score: Phoenix 91, Cleveland 78
Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Goran Dragic poured in 19 points and dished out seven assists to lead the Phoenix Suns past the Cleveland Cavaliers, 91-78, on Tuesday.
Michael Beasley added 15 points and Luis Scola had 14 off the bench for the Suns, who have won three of their last four following a three-game skid.
"I thought we did a good job of moving the basketball, and I thought we did a great job of finding the mismatches," Suns head coach Alvin Gentry said. "We did an excellent job when they decided to double the basketball of swinging it to the weak side, and Goran knocked down a couple of big ones for us."
Anderson Varejao scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down 18 boards while Dion Waiters added 16 points and seven assists for the Cavaliers, who are just 1-4 since losing point guard Kyrie Irving to a finger injury, and 1-10 over their past 11 contests.
"You play well two nights in a row and you come home and play like this, that's the most frustrating part," Cavs coach Byron Scott said. "No disrespect to Phoenix, but (it doesn't) seem like a real physical team. Tonight they looked like one."
Phoenix jumped out to a 19-13 lead in the first quarter after holding Cleveland to 25 percent (5-for-20) shooting from the floor in the frame. Beasley and Dragic led the Suns offensively, scoring seven and six points, respectively.
The Cavs made it 37-32 at the half, despite going just 7-for-24 from the floor in the second period. Only three players scored for the Cavs with Alonzo Gee and Jeremy Pargo each tallying seven and Omri Casspi chipping in with five. The Suns were held to just 16 shots in the frame and went just 3-for-6 from the free throw line.
Phoenix outscored Cleveland 34-27 in the third after shooting a blistering 66.7 percent from the floor to take a 71-59 lead into the fourth.
The Suns led by as many as 21 in the fourth as they cruised to the easy win. Scola and Dragic combined for 14 points in the quarter.
The Suns have won five of their last six against the Cavs, and are 3-0 over that stretch in Cleveland ... Phoenix won for just the second time on the road this season (2-5) ... Gee finished with 12 points for Cleveland.
