Kaymer extends lead to 6

Pinehurst, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Martin Kaymer 2-putted for birdie on the short par-4 third on Sunday to extend his lead to six strokes early in the final round of the 114th U.S. Open Championship.

Kaymer had parred the first two holes. His birdie moved him to minus-9 for the championship.

Erik Compton and Rickie Fowler opened with three straight pars. They share second place at minus-3 with Henrik Stenson, who birdied the third to get to 3-under par.

Dustin Johnson was even-par through four holes to remain at 2-under par overall. Defending champion Justin Rose made eagle on No. 5 to get into red figures at minus-1. He was the final player under par.

Former winner Jim Furyk closed with a 3-under 67 and is the leader in the clubhouse at 3-over 283.

Zach Johnson, a former Masters winner, had a hole-in-one on the ninth. He posted a 2-over 72 to end at 9-over 289.
