GAME NOTES: The Georgetown Hoyas will look to correct a two-game losing skid as they host the Marquette Golden Eagles in Big East Conference action at the Verizon Center.

Marquette has lost three of its last five games, all in the Big East, including the most recent loss to Butler, 69-57, in overtime on Saturday. Marquette has only lost two games in a row once this season.

The two-game losing streak Georgetown is currently on is already the longest of the season for the Hoyas, who lost to Seton Hall, 67-57, Saturday at home. The Hoyas will try to get back in the win column before they head out to Omaha later this week.

Georgetown holds a slim all-time series lead, 8-7, over Marquette. The two programs will meet again later this season in Milwaukee on Feb. 27.

Marquette was only able to net 17 points in the final 21 minutes of play against Butler, as the Golden Eagles fell to the Bulldogs in overtime in Big East play. Davante Gardner led Marquette with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double, hitting 6-of-16 shots from the floor. Jamil Wilson chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds, while Derrick Wilson added another 13 points, but turned the ball over five times in the loss. The Golden Eagles shot a dismal 30.8 percent from the floor.

Gardner paces Marquette this season with 13.9 ppg on an impressive 52.8 percent shooting from the floor. The big man also leads the team in rebounding, bringing down 5.9 rpg. Jamil Wilson is second in scoring, averaging 11.7 ppg as the second of only two players notching double-digit scoring totals this season. Jamil is second on the team in assists (41) to Derrick Wilson's total (68). Marquette is averaging 70.3 ppg this season.

Georgetown wasn't able to hold on to a double-digit second-half lead against Seton Hall, allowing the Pirates to pull ahead in the frame and take a 10- point victory in Washington, D.C. D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera led the Hoyas in scoring with 14 points and a team-best five assists in the loss. Mikael Hopkins had a strong game, netting 11 points and grabbing 15 rebounds for the double-double, adding three assists and three steals. Georgetown however, shot just 34 percent from the field.

Smith-Rivera continues to lead the Hoyas in scoring this season with a 17.1 ppg average on 47.9 percent shooting from the field. He's second on the team in assists with 54, and has registered a team-best 21 steals. Markel Starks is second on the squad with a 15.2 ppg average, while Hopkins checks in at 6.5 ppg, with a team-high 5.6 rpg. The Hoyas average 72.3 ppg through their 17 contests.

It's the first time this season Georgetown has lost back-to-back games. Don't expect the Hoyas to make it three in a row, especially two in a row on their home court, where they've only lost once on the year.
