NCAA Game Summary - ULM at Arkansas State

Jonesboro, AR ( - Melvin Johnson III scored 17 points as the Arkansas State Red Wolves defeated the ULM Warhawks, 64-58, in a Sun Belt Conference contest at the Convocation Center.

Ed Townsel had 13 points, while Kendrick Washington added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Red Wolves (18-11, 10-7 SBC), who halted a two-game losing skid.

Tylor Ongwae finished with 14 points and Marvin Williams registered a double- double with 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Warhawks (9-16, 6-11), who have lost four of their last five but still clinched a berth in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament thanks to Thursday-night losses by both Troy and Texas State.

Arkansas State shot 46.2 percent from the field in the opening half and it led 33-20 at the break. ULM made just 38.1 percent of its field goal tries, including 1-of-6 from 3-point range.

The Red Wolves connected on only 29.6 percent of their field goal attempts in the second period but still held on to win. The Warhawks outscored Arkansas State 38-31 in the frame but were never able take the lead. After ULM tied it up at 47 with 3:59 remaining, the Red Wolves went on a 7-0 run to create some space.

ULM was plagued by a game-high 16 turnovers, which resulted in 16 points for Arkansas State.
