NCAA Game Summary - Cornell at Columbia

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Rosenberg paced all scorers with 20 points, as the Columbia Lions downed the Cornell Big Red, 71-61, in the Ivy League opener for both teams at Levien Gymnasium.

Grant Mullins shot 11-of-13 from the free-throw line en route to 19 points for Columbia (12-6, 1-0 Ivy), which extended its season-long winning streak to five games. Maodo Lo scored 12 points, while Isaac Cohen registered 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Devin Cherry netted 16 points to lead Cornell (1-14), which fell back on its losing ways after earning its first victory of the season versus Oberlin College on Jan. 11 (77-55). Darryl Smith and Nolan Cressler chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Columbia outshot Cornell from the field in the opening stanza, 55 percent to 35.7 percent, but it attempted eight fewer field goals and led by only three, 29-26, heading into intermission.

The Lions started the second half hot, ripping off a 20-7 run to take a 16- point advantage with 12:14 left. The Big Red climbed back to make their deficit just six with under a minute to play but would get no closer.

Columbia shot 26-of-31 from the field on the evening, while Cornell was 15- of-20 from the stripe.
