New Orleans to host 2012 Arena Bowl

New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - New Orleans will host the 2012 Arena Bowl, the AFL announced Thursday.

Arena Bowl XXV will be played at New Orleans Arena, home of the AFL's VooDoo and the NBA's Hornets.

It will be the fifth big sporting event held in the city in a short span, joining the BCS National Championship Game, the NCAA Final Four, the Sugar Bowl and the 2013 Super Bowl.

It will mark the first time the AFL will have a neutral site for its championship game since 2007 and '08, when New Orleans hosted Arena Bowls XXI and XXII.
