Packers' Driver to retire New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver is set to call it a career. Driver, appearing on ESPN's "Mike and Mike in the Morning" program from New Orleans, said he would make it official during a press conference on February 6 in Green Bay. "I'm going to officially put the cleats on the shelf," Driver told the hosts. "I'm going to walk away from the game." The Packers also issued a news release on Thursday, saying Driver's retirement will take place in a public event at Lambeau Field. "I played my entire career in Green Bay and have always enjoyed a special bond with the fans," said Driver in a statement. "I can think of no better way to retire than to celebrate with them and the Packers organization." Driver spent 14 seasons with the Packers and helped the storied franchise to a Super Bowl title after the 2010 season. He is the club's all-time leader with 743 receptions and 10,137 yards, and sits third with 61 touchdown catches. The four-time Pro Bowl selection had just eight catches for 77 yards with a pair of touchdowns in 13 games this past season. He had seven seasons of at least 70 catches and 1,000 receiving yards. 01/31 08:17:37 ET Powered by The Sports Network. |
