GAME NOTES: Leaders in the Big West Conference with a record of 10-2, the Long Beach State 49ers turn their attention to Cal State Fullerton as the league foes clash on Wednesday night at the Pyramid.

Long Beach State, which had an eight-game win streak snapped this time last week versus Hawaii on the road, bounced back on Saturday night with an 83-80 victory over Cal State Northridge, completing the season sweep of the Matadors in the process. Since opening the 2012-13 campaign with just five wins in 13 tries LBSU has turned it around and is now five games over .500.

Not only is LBSU riding a 23-game home conference winning streak at the moment, the team is also aiming to give head coach Dan Monson his 100th win with the program.

Meanwhile, the Titans are tied with UC Davis for sixth place in the Big West with five wins in 11 chances. The squad was able to snap a three-game slide last Saturday with a 79-67 triumph over UC Riverside on the road.

The 49ers won the first meeting of the season last month by a score of 81-71 on the road, which means they now own a 61-43 advantage in the all-time series against the Titans.

Sammy Yeager lit up the scoreboard for 30 points last Saturday versus UCR, hitting on not just 11-of-17 from the floor, but also 6-of-11 behind the 3- point line. D.J. Seeley added another 21 points and Kwame Vaughn 13 as the starting five accounted for every one of the unit's 79 points. Defensively, the Titans allowed the Highlanders to make good on 54.2 percent from the floor, but just 4-of-15 beyond the arc.

One of the top scoring tandems in not just the conference but the nation these days, Seeley checks in with 19.3 ppg as he shoots 40.1 percent beyond the arc, followed by Vaughn with another 18.0 ppg as he feasts at the free-throw line (.853). The pair also combine for 185 of the squad's 367 assists, which means they are not afraid to let their teammates take some of the spotlight from time to time as the group scores a hefty 81.8 ppg.

Trailing by 11 points at the break against the Matadors last Saturday, LBSU fought all the way back to gain control of a game that experienced nine ties and 16 lead changes at just the right time. Mike Caffey scored a career-high 22 points, while James Ennis registered a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds for the visitors. Off the bench, Peter Pappageorge knocked down 5- of-10 beyond the arc for his 15 points, while Dan Jennings pitched in with 11 points and seven boards.

In conference games this season, the 49ers are posting 73.9 ppg as Ennis generates 17.5 ppg based on his 54 percent accuracy from the floor. Caffey is up to 14.0 ppg in such games and has also handed out 47 assists along the way, while Ennis and Keala King (9.0 ppg) are both capturing 5.5 rpg, but the team as a whole is being beaten on the glass by four caroms per contest by league foes.

The 49ers have already proven themselves at home over and over again in conference play, so taking out Fullerton and getting coach Monson his 100th win should be easily within reach.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Long Beach State 81, Cal State Fullerton 77
