=== Dullahan gearing up for Belmont Stakes ===
Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Dullahan, third in the Kentucky Derby, is
skipping Saturday's Preakness Stakes to prepare for the Belmont Stakes on June
9. The colt posted a workout Saturday morning at Churchill Downs for the
upcoming 1 1/2 mile Test of Champions.
Trained by Dale Romans, Dullahan covered five furlongs on a fast track in
1:00 1/5 with Faustino Aguilar riding. The three-year-old galloped out six
furlongs in 1:13 4/5 and seven furlongs in 1:29 4/5.
"He came out of the Derby very well and today's work was good," said assistant
trainer Baldemar Bahena. "He will work again here next Saturday and then we
will ship him to Belmont. He'll have his final workout for the race up there."
Dullahan was 12-1 in the Kentucky Derby after winning the Blue Grass Stakes at
Keeneland. Owned by Donegal Racing, the colt has won two of nine career starts
for $1,072,091.
Also putting in a workout at Churchill Downs was 2011 champion two-year-old
Hansen. Ninth in the Run for the Roses, Hansen worked five furlongs in 51
seconds. Trained by Mike Maker, the colt will start next in the Woody Stephens
Stakes on the Belmont Stakes undercard at Belmont Park.
