Tevez makes the difference as Juve claims derby spoils

Turin, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Juventus restored its nine-point lead at the top of Serie A on Sunday as a goal from Carlos Tevez in the 30th minute was the difference in a 1-0 Juve win over Torino in the Turin derby.

Second-place Roma closed the gap to six points at the top of the table with a narrow 1-0 victory over Bologna on Saturday, but Juve responded with a slender victory of its own to remain comfortably in front.

After a period of pressure from the Old Lady, Tevez broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark with a brilliant piece of individual skill.

Kwadwo Asamoah slid a pass to Tevez, who had his back to goal and took one touch before turning his body and lashing a half volley past goalkeeper Daniele Padelli from 20 yards.

Ciro Immobile was the most dangerous man for Torino on Sunday, and he tested goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon by breaking in on goal and shooting straight at the netminder.

Immobile had another chance to level the match as the second half wore on when he headed wide of the net following a cross from Giovanni Pasquale.

Juve was content to see out the rest of the match and hold on for all three points, giving Antonio Conte's side its sixth straight derby victory.

Inter Milan's push for a top-three place took another hit as the Nerazzurri was held to a 1-1 draw by bottom-half side Cagliari, which took the lead in the first half through Mauricio Pinilla before seeing Rolando tally the equalizer in the 51st minute.

AC Milan claimed three points at Sampdoria in a 2-0 triumph with goals from Adel Taarabt and Adil Rami, Hellas Verona built a 3-0 halftime lead on Livorno before holding on for a 3-2 win and Chievo climbed out of the bottom three with a 2-0 victory against Catania courtesy of goals from Cyril Thereau and Luca Rigoni.

Antonio Di Natale helped Udinese claim a point against Atalanta in a 1-1 affair as he converted a second-half penalty kick to cancel out a 24th-minute tally from Atalanta's Davide Brivio, while Lazio earned a crucial 3-2 victory over Sassuolo courtesy of an 83rd-minute winner from Antonio Candreva.
