Pisano done for season after leg fracture

Cagliari, Italy (Sports Network) - Cagliari defender Francesco Pisano has been ruled out for the rest of the season after he suffered a fractured fibula in his team's 0-0 draw with Catania on Sunday.

Pisano was replaced after 29 minutes, and his presence in the team will be missed as the club now must navigate the remainder of its Serie A campaign without a top defender.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Francesco Pisano has suffered a fracture to the fibula of his left leg. The prognosis will be better defined over the next few days but it is clear that the season is already over for the defender."

The 26-year-old has started 28 of Cagliari's 31 games in Serie A this season, with the club sitting in the middle of the table, 12 points clear of the relegation places with seven matches to play.
