Jovetic secures City switch

Manchester, England (Sports Network) - Manchester City increased its offensive options on Friday as the club confirmed the signing of forward Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina.

The Montenegro international is the second attacking player to be signed on Friday by City, with Jovetic joining Spain striker Alvaro Negredo.

"Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina," read a statement from City. "The 23-year-old Montenegro international will now join up with his new teammates over the weekend."

Jovetic netted 40 goals in 134 games during his five-year stay with Fiorentina.

"Florence will always have a place in my heart," Jovetic told Fiorentina's website. "It's not like I was only here for a day, I'm going to miss it.

"It's a beautiful city and I was happy with absolutely everything, particularly the people. It's only normal that they are a bit annoyed now, but I never said or did anything bad towards them, or towards Fiorentina."

In addition to Negredo and Jovetic, City has also added Sevilla winger Jesus Navas and Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho this summer.
