Marshall signs new Cardiff deal

Cardiff, Wales (SportsNetwork.com) - Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall has signed a new contract with the club, keeping him at the Cardiff City Stadium until the summer of 2018.

Marshall, 28, has made more than 180 appearances for the Bluebirds since joining from Norwich City in 2009 and has missed just one league game for the club since 2011.

"This is fantastic - we're delighted to have been able to tie David down for the foreseeable future," Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said. "He really enjoys being at Cardiff City and was very keen to stay with our Football Club. I was very happy when things were concluded today.

"We're trying to build towards the future of course, and David has shown that he's one of the very best. This is a signal that we are serious as to our intentions for the future and that we are committed to keeping the best players here at Cardiff City."

Marshall and his Cardiff City teammates will be back in action in the highly- contentious South-Wales derby on Saturday against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
