Oxlade-Chamberlain's double sees Arsenal top Crystal Palace

London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain netted a second-half brace on Sunday to send Arsenal back to the top of the Premiership table following a 2-0 win over London rivals Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal entered the match one point behind Manchester City, which hosts Chelsea on Monday, for the top spot, but failed to grab a hold of the match as the Gunners were frustrated by a stout Palace defense in the opening 45 minutes.

But two minutes into the second half, Arsenal's quality finally broke through as Santi Cazorla sent Chamberlain through and he smashed it past Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni.

Palace kept at it in search of an equalizer, but were undone by Chamberlain again in the 73ard minute after he latched onto a pass from Olivier Giroud and beat Speroni to the bottom right corner.

The result sees the Gunners leap back to the top of the table with 55 points, two clear of Manchester City, while Palace remain in 16th place on 23 points, one clear of the relegation zone.

West Bromwich 1, Liverpool 1

West Bromwich, England - Liverpool wasted an opportunity to create some separation in the race for fourth place on Sunday after being held to a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

Coming off a sensational performance in a 4-0 thrashing of Merseyside rivals Everton in midweek, the Reds looked a bit tired during the course of the 90 minutes, but managed to strike first on 24 minutes when a shot from Luis Suarez deflected to Daniel Sturridge at the back post and the England international knocked it home.

But West Brom had the better of the play in the second half and used a mistake from Liverpool defender Kolo Toure to find an equalizer in the 67th minute. Toure went for a pass across the pitch in front of his own goal, but it was easily cut out by Victor Anichebe, who slotted it past Simon Mignolet.

The result leaves Liverpool in fourth place in the Premiership, two clear of Everton, while West Brom lifts itself out of the drop zone with 23 points.
