Pellegrini confirmed as City manager

Manchester, England (Sports Network) - Manchester City made it official on Friday with former Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini, who moves to the Etihad Stadium on a three-year contract.

Pellegrini announced last month that he would be leaving Malaga after a two- and-a-half-year stint in charge, which also followed a year at Real Madrid.

"I am delighted to accept this hugely exciting opportunity," Pellegrini said in a statement released by the team.

"The club has a clear vision for success both on and off the pitch and I am committed to making a significant contribution."

The 59-year-old will be taking his first job in England after managing in Chile, Ecuador, Argentina and Spain.

Pellegrini led Malaga to a sixth-place finish in La Liga last term, and he will be replacing Roberto Mancini after the Italian guided City to second place in the Premiership last term.
