Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun is a career .467 hitter with a 1.356 OPS versus Pittsburgh right-hander Charlie Morton.
Insight: Braun did most of his damage this season in one huge series in Philadelphia (all three homers and all 10 RBI came in the three-game set) and has done little in the other 11 games, but this matchup might get him going.

Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun is a career .435 hitter with three home runs and a 1.304 OPS versus Phillies ace left-hander Cliff Lee.
Insight: Braun is 4-for-9 with three homers and nine RBI in the first two games of the series. He's always loved hitting in Citizen Bank Park (.398, 10 HR, 23 RBI, 1.294 OPS in 21 games). Make him a must start on Thursday.

Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun corked three homers Tuesday in a blowout win over Philadelphia.
Insight: So much for that sore thumb. Braun's seven RBI were a career-high. Braun entered today's action with just three hits in his first 20 at bats (.150 AVG). We'll have to see which Braun shows up Wednesday against Roberto Hernandez (1-0, 3.38 ERA).

Insight: Braun hit .417 during spring training but his thumb condition has worsened since the season began. He admitted he cannot keep two hands on the bat when he makes contact due to numbness caused by nerve damage. The outfielder also dealt with issues in that thumb last season and said it never fully healed even though he was suspended for the last 65 games of the season. Fantasy owners should be very concerned, as the injury may require surgery if it doesn't improve soon.

Description: Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun said he'd be open to playing right field next season. SOURCE: Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
Insight: Wednesday marked Braun's first public comments since getting suspended for performance enhancing drugs in July. Moving to right would solidify Khris Davis' place in the starting lineup, though it wouldn't have much of an impact on Braun's output. Braun, a third baseman early in his career, said he would not be open to playing that position again.

Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun has been suspended for the rest of the 2013 season for his role in a PED scandal involving the now closed Biogenesis clinic in Miami. The ban is effective immediately and Braun will not appeal the ruling.
Insight: Unreal. Braun (.298, 9 HR, 38 RBI) released a prepared statement. "As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect. I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions. This situation has taken a toll on me and my entire family, and it has been a distraction to my teammates and the Brewers organization." He'll miss the final 65 games of the season and forfeit roughly three and a half million dollars in salary. Expect the league to hand out more suspensions related to the Biogenesis scandal later in the week.

Description: Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun will get his second consecutive start on Saturday, indicating that Friday nigth's game didn't re-aggravate his thumb problem.
Insight: Braun has gotten just six at-bats since June 9. He's been disappointing this season, batting a solid .300, but with just nine homers and 36 RBI. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said the team would play it safe and not push their superstar.

Description: According to ESPN, the MLB players' association said it's possible the players involved in the Biogenesis case will not serve their suspensions until the 2014 season.
Insight: Michael Weiner, the union's executive director, said he expects MLB to present its case to the players' association "within the next month." With major suspensions potentially being handed out to more than a dozen players, there will certainly be lengthy appeals process that could carry into the offseason. That means Ryan Braun, Alex Rodriguez, Nelson Cruz and others could be safe for the rest of the season.

Description: Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun is not in Wednesday's starting lineup.
Insight: Braun's right thumb injury is improved and he played Tuesday for the first time since June 9, going 1-for-3. It's a tough time for Braun who is fighting the league over his connection with Biogenesis as well as opposing pitchers.

7/9/2013 5:44:00 PM
Description: According to T.J. Quinn of ESPN, Major League Baseball is expected to suspend Ryan Braun, Alex Rodriguez and as many as 20 other players sometime after the All-Star break for their connection to the Biogenesis Clinic.
Insight: Braun's right thumb injury is improved and he will play Tuesday for the first time since June 9. MLB could seek 100-game suspensions for both Braun and A-Rod, but we expect most or all of the suspended players to appeal. That means this situation might not be resolved until the offseason.

Description: Milwaukee left fielder Ryan Braun was activated from the disabled list on Monday, but did not get into the game. Latest update - Braun is in Tuesday's starting lineup versus Cincinnati.
Insight: He missed about a month with a right thumb injury. Braun (.304, 9 HR, 36 RBI) hasn't put up the power we are used to, but the injury might have been the cause and fantasy owners should expect the "real" Braun to show up after the All-Star break.
