Colorado lands transfer Fortune

Boulder, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - University of Colorado men's basketball head coach Tad Boyle announced the addition of Providence transfer Josh Fortune to a Financial Aid Agreement (FAA).

Fortune, who started all 35 games for the Friars as a sophomore, will sit out the 2014-15 season and have two years of eligibility remaining.

"We're extremely excited about Josh and what he brings to our program," said Boyle. "He's a guy who is battled tested in the BIG EAST for two years, played a lot of minutes and played in a lot of big games."

Fortune averaged 8.4 points last season and helped earn Providence a berth in the NCAA Tournament. He scored a career-high 24 points in the opening round of the Big East Tournament and played 117 of an available 120 minutes during Providence's run to the Big East tourney title.

"He can shoot the ball, shoot it from deep, which is something our team needs. Three-point shooting is one of the areas we probably under-performed last year, so Josh really helps us."

Fortune plans to major in communications.
