Description: Giants running back Brandon Jacobs has announced his retirement.
Insight: Jacobs has been slow to recover from a knee injury and has not been a factor since 2011. His best season was in 2008 when he rushed for 1,089 yards and 15 touchdowns. The Giants are still hoping that David Wilson can play in 2014.

11/29/2013 4:09:00 PM
Description: Brandon Jacobs won't be available Sunday when the Giants take on the Redskins.
Insight: He's out with a knee injury. With Jacobs sidelined, Andre Brown is firmly entrenched as a fantasy RB2.

11/21/2013 1:35:00 PM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (knee) was back on the practice field Thursday.
Insight: Andre Brown will get the majority of the workload, but Jacobs could steal some red zone and goal line carries.

11/10/2013 11:32:00 AM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is officially inactive for Sunday's game with Oakland.
Insight: Peyton Hilliis and just activated Andre Brown were going to get all the rushing attempts anyway, so this shouldn't change any lineups.

10/27/2013 11:32:00 AM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is officially inactive for Sunday's game with Philadelphia.
Insight: Peyton Hilliis will be the primary back against the Eagles after posting 81 yards from scrimmage and a TD Monday night versus Minnesota. He's worthy of a start, particularly in a week with six teams on a bye.

10/25/2013 4:41:00 PM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
Insight: Peyton Hilliis will be the primary back against the Eagles after posting 81 yards from scrimmage and a TD Monday night versus Minnesota. He's a flex consideration this week.

10/25/2013 10:12:00 AM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and it appears unlikely that he'll be ready for Week 8 against Philadelphia.
Insight: Peyton Hilliis would be the primary back against the Eagles after posting 81 yards from scrimmage and a TD Monday night versus Minnesota. Even if Jacobs makes it back onto the field, expect him to share time with Hillis and Michael Cox.

10/24/2013 11:31:00 AM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) didn't play Monday night against the Vikings and wasn't promising anything for Week 8, according to a New York Daily News report.
Insight: Even if Jacobs makes it back onto the field, expect him to share time with Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox. He's a low-end RB2 at best.

10/22/2013 11:13:00 AM
Description: New York tailback Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) didn't play Monday night against the Vikings and will likely be a game-time decision in Week 8.
Insight: Even if Jacobs makes it back onto the field, expect him to share time with Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox. He's a low-end RB2 at best.

10/21/2013 7:10:00 PM
Description: New York halfback Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) won't play Monday night against the Vikings.
Insight: Jacobs will hand over the backfield duties to Michael Cox, who is making his first career start. Veteran Peyton Hillis should also be in the mix for carries. The Giants are second-to-last in the NFL in rushing yards per game this season (67.8).

10/20/2013 12:36:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) didn't practice Saturday, which ESPN.com's Dan Graziano says is a sign that he suffered a setback.
Insight: Jacobs looked great last Thursday against the Bears, rushing for 106 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries, and he would be a top-20 running back option in Week 7 if he plays. However, if fantasy owners leave Jacobs in the lineup and he ends up being inactive, there won't be other options available Monday. The newly signed Peyton Hillis and rookie Michael Cox are New York's only other running backs.

Description: Giants running back Brandon Jacobs tweaked his hamstring against Chicago, but is expected to be ready for Monday night versus Minnesota, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Playing last Thursday gives the 31-year old a longer time to heal and a better chance to play. The Giants only have Jacobs and Da'Rel Scott to man the ground game, until Andre Brown returns.

9/10/2013 4:55:00 PM
Description: The Giants have signed Brandon Jacobs, according to FOX Sports's Mike Garafolo.
Insight: Joe McKnight and veteran Willis McGahee were also workout. David Wilson's fantasy owners can't be happy, but the Giants needed a veteran back for insurance while Andre Brown is mending his broken leg.

Insight: Former Jet Joe McKnight and veteran Willis McGahee will also be at the workout. The Giants are looking for insurance at running back while Andre Brown is out with a broken leg. David Wilson started for the Giants on Sunday but was benched after he gave the ball away on a fumble.

Description: The 49ers officially cut ties with running back Brandon Jacobs on Monday.
Insight: Jacobs' stint in San Francisco was pretty much a disaster from start to finish. He only saw five carries all season and was suspended for the final three games of the season after complaining about a lack of playing time. At age 30, it looks like Jacobs could be nearing the end of his career. Even if he's lost a step or two, Jacobs is still enormous (6-foor-4, 264 pounds) and that size advantage alone could be enough to get him an invite to training camp next summer.

12/10/2012 4:51:00 PM
Description: 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs has been suspended for the final three games of the regular season.
Insight: Jacobs recently expressed dissatisfaction with his role, saying he's "rotting away" on the bench. He didn't see a carry until Week 12 after missing time with a knee injury early in the year. Our guess is that Jacobs has played his final game as a 49er. San Francisco will rely on LaMichael James and Anthony Dixon to back up Frank Gore (1,035 yards, 7 TDs).

11/25/2012 3:35:00 PM
Description: San Francisco running back Brandon Jacobs is active for Week 12 against New Orleans.
Insight: Even if Jacobs is 100 percent, he won't hold much fantasy value as he's well down on the depth chart. This should not change anyone's fantasy lineup.

9/7/2012 4:10:00 PM
Description: San Francisco running back Brandon Jacobs is questionable for Sunday's game against Green Bay with a knee injury after missing Friday's practice.
Insight: Even if Jacobs is 100 percent, he probably won't hold much fantasy value this season in the 49ers crowded backfield. Frank Gore should gain value with Jacobs absence as he'll be the goal line back over either Kendall Hunter or LaMichael James.
