Cleveland Cavaliers (3-5) at Minnesota Timberwolves (5-3), 8 p.m.
(SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves will host
Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday at the Target Center.
The Timberwolves had a two-game winning streak stopped with Monday's 109-107
loss to the Los Angeles Clippers and have dropped three of five games since a
Kevin Martin ended with 30 points for Minnesota, while Nikola Pekovic tallied
25 points and 10 boards and Love recorded 23 points and 19 rebounds.
The Timberwolves had three chances to go in front at the end, but Martin
missed a 16-foot jumper and both Pekovic and Love were off the mark from in
"My natural instinct was to try to rush it and get it up there, but it sat on
the rim and came right off. I would say 99 times out of a hundred times that
goes in," Love said. "I could have dunked it, but I thought I just had to
touch it real quick because time was running out."
Cleveland has lost three of four games and is coming off Monday's 96-81 loss
to Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls.
Irving scored just 16 points on 5-of-19 from the field. Andrew Bynum had 11
points in his first start since May, 2012, and Tristan Thompson registered a
double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
"We just didn't execute. We need to learn like in baseball to hit singles and
not go for home run passes all the time," Cleveland guard Jarrett Jack said.
Bynum won't be with the team for the Minnesota game. He is tending to a family
medical emergency and not expected to rejoin the Cavs until the weekend at the
The Cavs were coming off a home-and-home split with Philadelphia.
Cleveland already defeated Minnesota 93-92 last Monday, but the T'Wolves have
won four of the previous six between the two teams.
These two teams have split the last 14 meetings in the Twin Cities.
