NBA Game Summary - Oklahoma City at Philadelphia
(Saturday, November 24th)
Final Score: Oklahoma City 116, Philadelphia 109 (OT)
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Kevin Durant poured in a season-best 37
points and Russell Westbrook added 30, and the Oklahoma City Thunder used
sharp long-range shooting in overtime to beat the Philadelphia 76ers, 116-109,
at Wells Fargo Center.
Durant, Westbrook, Thabo Sefolosha, and Kevin Martin each connected from
beyond the arc in the extra session, as the Thunder bounced back from a
108-100 loss at Boston the previous night.
Serge Ibaka registered 18 points and nine rebounds, and Nick Collison
contributed 14 for Oklahoma City, which missed its final seven shots of
regulation but managed to win for the ninth time in 11 games. The Thunder beat
the Sixers for a seventh straight time.
"It was a game of runs definitely tonight," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said.
"I thought both teams hit each other and both teams weren't going to back
down. It was good that we got hot at the end."
Thaddeus Young had 29 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for the Sixers, who
lost their second in a row. Evan Turner ended with 26 points and Jrue Holiday
dished out 13 assists.
"Those guys, they see double-teams, triple-teams, but they make shots every
night," Young said of Durant and Westbrook. "The role players really stepped
up for those guys."
Due to turnovers and poor shooting, the teams combined for only four points
over the last four minutes of regulation. Young came up with a steal and
scored on a reverse layup to tie the game at 98 with 1:36 left.
Both teams then missed a pair of jumpers, and the Sixers knocked away an
inbounds pass in the dying seconds to force the extra session.
Durant and Martin drained back-to-back 3-pointers for a 106-100 difference,
and the Sixers never recovered.
Holiday had 10 assists in the first half and helped the Sixers get within
50-49 at the break, this after they trailed by as many as 10 points.
Oklahoma City used a 16-2 spurt in the third to grab a 66-53 cushion, but the
Sixers were within 85-79 moving to the fourth.
