Eskimos release QB Joseph

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Edmonton Eskimos released veteran quarterback Kerry Joseph on Thursday.

Joseph is expected to sign with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, then announce his retirement after 11 CFL seasons.

During four seasons in Edmonton, Joseph completed 189-of-319 passes for 2,660 yards, 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also rushed for 384 yards and 13 scores on 84 carries.

"I'd like to personally thank the organization, fans, my teammates and coaches for the opportunity to continue to play the game I love in a great city with great people. Everyone will truly be missed from the bottom of my heart," said Joseph.

Joseph started his CFL career in 2003 after a four-year stay with the Seattle Seahawks, where he played safety.

The 40-year-old threw for 27,941 yards with 144 touchdowns and 121 interceptions with Ottawa, Saskatchewan, Toronto and Edmonton. He also rushed for 4,548 yards and 56 touchdowns.
