GAME NOTES: Wake Forest puts its perfect home record on the line this
Saturday, as the Demon Deacons host UNC Greensboro in their penultimate non-
conference game of the season.
Wake Forest moved to 8-0 at LJVM Coliseum on Tuesday, but needed a comeback to
do so. Trailing St. Bonaventure, 36-28, at the half, the Demon Deacons shook
off their 10-day layoff and shot 62 percent from the field in the second half,
outscoring the Bonnies, 49-26, after the break to win comfortably. The Deacs
outrebounded the Bonnies by 10, a 42-32 margin and outscored them at the free-
throw line, 18-7.
Codi Miller-McIntyre scored 20 points while Devin Thomas and Travis McKie
added 18 and 16 points, respectively, in the victory. Miller-McIntyre has
eclipsed the 20-point mark seven times already this season and leads the team
with 18.1 ppg. Thomas, McKie and Coron Williams are all averaging over 11 ppg,
with Thomas nearly putting up a double-double each time out (9.5 rpg).
Wake Forest, which has won all seven previous meetings against the Spartans,
wraps up its non-conference schedule at Xavier next Saturday.
UNC Greensboro also came from behind and won its latest outing, as the
Spartans downed James Madison, 78-65, on Wednesday. Nicholas Paulos scored 21
points on 7-of-11 from 3-point range, while Kyle Cain scored 20 points and
brought down seven boards as the Spartans evened their record. After trailing
by six at the break, UNCG made 55.6 percent of its shots in the second half,
including an outstanding 8-of-11 effort from behind the arc. RJ White added 12
points, while Kayel Locke chipped in with 11 in the victory.
Cain sits at seventh in the Southern Conference in scoring at 16.0 ppg, thanks
to a .541 field goal percentage, and also leads the team with 8.0 rpg. Tevon
Saddler ranks second on the team in scoring (12.3 ppg) while handing out a
team-best 43 assists.
Wake Forest is averaging 79.2 ppg, and the Spartans have not hit that mark
since a 92-62 win over Greensboro College back on Nov. 20. The Demon Deacons
are a much stiffer test, especially at home, so a Wake Forest victory is
highly likely here.
Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Wake Forest 78, UNC Greensboro 66
