Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Ireland registered a double-
double with 18 points and a game-high 10 assists as the Loyola Marymount Lions
secured a 90-78 win over the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in a non-conference
tilt at Gersten Pavilion.
Also recording a double-double for the Lions (4-0) was Gabe Levin who tallied
15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while Evan Payne and Chase Flint
contributed 16 and 11 points, respectively. Loyola Marymount is now off to a
perfect start through four games for the first time since 2003-04.
Leading the way for the Lumberjacks (1-3) was Max Jacobsen with a game-high 28
points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field. Quinton Upshur accounted for 25
points for the visitors.
NAU led by four points midway through the first half, but it was LMU that
managed to grab a narrow 36-35 advantage at the break. The Lions made one more
field goal in the period than the 'Jacks.
In the second half Loyola Marymount erupted with 65.6 percent accuracy from
the floor, not to mention a perfect 10-of-10 at the free-throw line in order
to claim the 12-point win.
In a game that featured four ties and 10 lead changes, the LMU reserves
outscored the Northern Arizona bench by a 33-9 margin.
