Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - George Beamon notched 22 points, helping
the Manhattan Jaspers to an 84-81 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bulls at
the Barclays Center.
Beamon shot 8-of-20 from the field for the Jaspers (9-2). RaShawn Stores and
Ashton Pankey each contributed 10 points, while Rhamel Brown had eight points,
six rebounds, four blocks and two steals.
Javon McCrea recorded a double-double for the Bulls (4-4) with 18 points and
11 rebounds. Shannon Evans put up a team-high 20 points, hitting 13-of-15 at
the free-throw line. Joshua Freelove netted 17 points and Xavier Ford added 10
The Bulls were the more consistent offensive squad in the first half, shooting
41.7 percent from the floor and 19-of-21 at the line. The Jaspers shot a mere
28.6 percent from the field and trailed 41-39 at halftime.
Manhattan improved to shoot 40 percent from the field in the second half, not
quite as good as Buffalo's 42.9 percent, but the Jaspers were the better team
at the stripe, where they shot 12-of-14. With five seconds left in regulation,
Shane Richards was fouled attempting a 3-pointer and made all three free
throws to tie the game at 77. Following a missed Evans jumper on the other
end, the game went to overtime.
In the extra session, a Freelove 3-pointer tied the game at 81 with just under
a minute to play, but this was the only field goal the Bulls made in the
