NCAA Game Summary - Akron at Ohio University

Athens, OH (Sports Network) - Demetrius Treadwell recorded a team-high 21 points as the Akron Zips defeated the Ohio University Bobcats in overtime, 88-81, in a Mid-American Conference bout at the Convocation Center.

Alex Abreu was one assist shy of a double-double with 16 points for the Zips (23-4, 13-0 MAC) as they held on to first place in the MAC East Division. Jake Kretzer put up 19 points off the bench on a perfect night from 3-point range (5-of-5). Zeke Marshall contributed 16 points and seven boards for Akron, which extended the nation's longest win streak to 19 games.

For the Bobcats (20-8, 11-2), D.J. Cooper recorded a game-high 26 points, while Walter Offutt was one rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points. Travis Wilkins chipped in 12 points and Reggie Keely added 10 points, as Ohio lost its second game in a row.

Despite Akron jumping out to an early 9-0 lead, Ohio hit 14-of-25 from the floor in the first half, including 5-of-8 beyond the arc, en route to a 41-30 advantage at the break.

Akron came back in the second half, making 13-of-25 from the floor, including 6-of-10 from long range. With the Bobcats trailing by two in the waning seconds, Jon Smith connected on a layup at the buzzer to force overtime.

In the extra session, Ohio was held to a mere 1-of-5 from the floor. Akron made 3-of-7 from the field and sealed its fate with a 10-of-13 showing from the foul line to earn the victory.

Akron outscored Ohio in second chance points, 18-12.
