MLS Game Summary - D.C. United at Portland

(Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012)

From The Sports Network

Final Score: D.C. United 1, Portland 1

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - D.C. United and the Portland Timbers exchanged second-half goals in a 1-1 draw at Jeld-Wen Field on Saturday.

United was awarded a dubious penalty at the hour mark when Perry Kitchen's cross was blocked by the arm of David Horst. Chris Pontius took the opportunity in stride, converting the ensuing kick to give the visitors the lead.

But Portland was able to draw level 11 minutes from time as Bright Dike capped some fine build up play by beating Bill Hamid from a tough angle.

D.C. (15-10-6) stays put in fourth place in the Eastern Conference where it sits two points clear of the fifth-place Houston Dynamo.

Portland (7-15-9) remains second from bottom in the West, improving to 30 points on the season.
