Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Dynamo piled more misery on the Los
Angeles Galaxy on Saturday by earning a 2-1 victory over the reigning
champions at BBVA Compass Stadium.
Los Angeles has yet to keep a clean sheet this season and that reflects in the
club's results - Bruce Arena's side sits bottom of the Western Conference on
11 points through 13 games. Riding a seven-game winless run, the Galaxy
(3-8-2) have lost three in a row and five of their last six league contests.
The Galaxy jumped out to a bright start when Edson Buddle opened the scoring
early on, but Mike Magee's own goal seven minutes before halftime gifted the
home side a way back into the match.
Houston ultimately went in front as Andre Hainault nodded home the winner in
the 57th minute to extend the club's unbeaten run to four games.
The Dynamo (4-3-4) improve to 16 points on the season and remain unbeaten in
their new home, posting a 2-0-1 record through three games at BBVA Compass
Buddle ended a 10-game spell without a goal when he slotted home a centering
pass from Chad Barrett inside 10 the opening 10 minutes.
Houston dictated play for the remainder of the first half and came close to
leveling the score on several occasions.
Will Bruin and Je-Vaughn Watson nearly equalized for the Dynamo with similar
scoring chances in the 18th and 30th minutes, but their headers sailed just
inches over the crossbar.
With a little bit of fortune, the Dynamo were able to get on level terms
before the close of the first half. Brian Ching collected a through ball in
the 38th minute and ripped a shot on target from a tough angle. His effort hit
the woodwork and fell to Magee in the center of the box, but the Galaxy
midfielder's poor first touch saw the ball trickle over the line and into the
back of the net.
Houston grabbed the lead 12 minutes after the restart when Hainault met a
dangerous corner kick delivery from Brad Davis with a glancing header to send
the ball just inside Brian Perk's far post.
Los Angeles will have three weeks to develop a plan to get back to winning
ways as the club does not return to action until June 17 when it hosts the
