Dynamo rout Impact to reach East semis

Houston, TX ( - The Houston Dynamo advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals on Thursday after easing to a 3-0 victory over the Montreal Impact at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Both teams entered the match searching for some positive form and it was the home-standing Dynamo that grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and never let go, finding the back of the net 16 minutes in.

Just minutes after they created their first quality scoring chance of the night, the Dynamo connected when Ricardo Clark slid a perfect ball through for Will Bruin, who deposited it past Montreal goalkeeper Troy Perkins.

Things got even better for the Dynamo in the 27th minute when Boniek Garcia intercepted a ball in midfield and made his way into the penalty area before being taken down by Montreal's Hernan Bernadello, resulting in a penalty kick.

Garcia stepped up and calmly fired it into the lower left corner to put the hosts up 2-0.

Montreal's best chance came on the hour mark as Marco Di Vaio ripped a shot from distance that was easily seen by Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall, but the visitors never threatened Houston's goal and imploded over the final 20 minutes as Di Vaio, Andres Romero and Nelson Rivas were all sent off.

Bruin then put the result to bed with his second goal of the contest 18 minutes from time, to see the Dynamo advance and face the New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
