Turin, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Juventus closed to within one point of Roma at the Serie A summit on Sunday with an impressive 3-0 home win over Napoli.
The two sides entered the day level on 28 points, three points adrift of Roma, but Juve seized an early lead through Fernando Llorente before a pair of sublime goals from Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba in the second half.
Juve moves to within one point of Roma with the result after the capital club was held to a 1-1 draw earlier in the day by Sassuolo, which scored the equalizer deep into stoppage time through Domenico Berardi.
Llorente's goal came inside of two minutes and it got the hosts off to a flying start as a deflected shot from Mauricio Isla fell kindly to Llorente at the back post, allowing him to score from six yards.
Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina made a fine diving save to deny Juventus a second goal in the eighth minute when he kept out Leonardo Bonucci's header from close range.
But the former Liverpool goalkeeper could do nothing to stop Pirlo's fantastic free kick in the 74th minute as the Italy international hit the top left corner of the net from 25 yards.
And Pogba scored an even more impressive goal 10 minutes from time with a wonderful volley from 25 yards that struck the right post on its way into the net.
Angelo Ogbonna was sent off seven minutes from time for Juve after collecting a second yellow card, but it made little difference.
