Barcelos, Portugal (SportsNetwork.com) - Claro bagged a goal on either side of the intermission on Sunday as Arouca pulled itself out of the relegation zone with a 3-0 win over Gil Vicente at the Estadio Cidade de Barcelos.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Claro bagged his first tally of the day and the club took the margin into the locker room.
Things became even more difficult for the hosts when Luis Martins was shown a straight red card, reducing the home side to 10 men in the 62nd minute.
Two minutes later, Roberto Rodrigo made it 2-0 and Claro completed his double 20 minutes from time to seal the points for Arouca, which climbed to 13th place with 12 points, three clear of the drop zone.
Also on Sunday, Joao Meira was shown a red card four minutes from time, but Belenenses managed to hold on for a point in a scoreless draw against Estoril.
On Saturday, Marco Matias, Jean-Pierre Barrientos and Andre Filipe Bras scored to lead Guimaraes to a comfortable 3-0 victory over 10-man Academica, while Pacos Ferreira and Rio Ave battled to a scoreless stalemate, as did Sporting Lisbon and Nacional.
Friday's action saw FC Porto cruise to a 4-0 rout of Olhanense behind goals from Eliaquim Mangala, Jackson Martinez, Carlos Eduardo and Hector Rubio, while Benfica eased to a 2-0 win over Vitoria Setubal.
