Kings ink Martinez to 2-year contract

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Kings signed defenseman Alec Martinez to a new two-year contract on Monday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Martinez, who will soon turn 26 on July 26, played in 27 games for the Kings last season. He recorded one goal and four assists with 10 penalty minutes, then appeared in seven of the Kings' 18 postseason games and contributed two assists with eight penalty minutes.

The 2007 fourth-round selection has spent his entire four-year NHL career with the Kings, tallying 12 goals with 21 assists in 142 regular-season games.
