Description: Browns QB Brian Hoyer was likely in danger of finding himself on the bench after the first half, but responded in the second half and should be given a longer leash in Week 2.
Insight: Hoyer went 19-of-31 for 230 yards and a touchdowns without an interception as the Browns gave the Steelers all they could handle in Week 1. Johnny Manziel will likely have to wait until at least Week 5, after the bye, for a chance to show his stuff. Considering the team will probably be 0-3 at the time, that's when fantasy owners should expect to see Johnny Football

Description: The Browns have named Brian Hoyer the starting quarterback for Week 1, according to clevelandbrowns.com. "He was the clear leader from the beginning," coach Mike Pettine said. "We've maintained all along that if it was close, I would prefer to go with the more experienced player. Brian has done a great job in the meeting rooms and with his teammates on the practice field and in the locker room."
Insight: Hoyer started three games last season but tore his ACL early in the third one. In the two games in which Hoyer played heavily, tight end Jordan Cameron had 16 catches for 157 yards and four touchdowns on 23 targets. If Hoyer doesn't get off to a good start in the Browns' first three games (at Pittsburgh, vs. New Orleans, vs. Baltimore), we could see the team make the switch to Johnny Manziel during the Week 4 bye.

Description: Quarterback Brian Hoyer will start the Browns preseason opener on Saturday, according to beat writer Scott Petrak.
Insight: Hoyer is the favorite to start in Week 1 over Johnny Manziel, but Manziel could close the gap quickly once the exhibition season begins. Browns coach Mike Pettine said the first two preseason games will "more than likely" determine the winner of the quarterback competition.

Description: Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer has a partially torn ACL, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Insight: Hoyer came down awkwardly on his right leg after running for a first down in the first quarter of Thursday's game. He'll get a second opinion, but his season appears to be over. It's too bad as he had just led the Browns to two consecutive victories and was playing at a very high level.

Description: Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer will not return to Thursday's game due to a right knee injury, reports Alex Flanagan of NFL Network.
Insight: Hoyer came down awkwardly on his right leg after running for a first down in the first quarter. The team is fearful he tore ligaments in his right knee and will send him for an MRI. A serious knee injury would be devastating for the career backup, who went 2-0 in his first two starts with Cleveland and looked like a potentially viable starting quarterback.

Description: Brian Hoyer will start at quarterback for the Browns in Week 4 as Brandon Weeden isn't ready to return from his thumb injury, according to coach Rob Chudzinski.
Insight: Hoyer tossed three touchdown passes, all to tight end Jordan Cameron in Sunday's win over Minnesota. It will be interesting to see who the team goes with when Weeden is ready to return.

Description: Brian Hoyer overcame three interceptions to lead the Browns to victory Sunday in his first start of the 2013 season.
Insight: He tossed three touchdown passes, all to tight end Jordan Cameron. The 321 yards Hoyer racked up through the air were a career-high. It seems likely that he'll start again next week, regardless of Brandon Weeden's availability.

Description: Cleveland QB Brian Hoyer could overtake Brandon Weeden for the starting job if he plays well Sunday against the Vikings. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL.com
Insight: The Browns shook things up by changing their running back situation earlier this week and now it looks like they're about to do the same thing at quarterback. Hoyer probably won't be a fantasy option as he's only thrown for 616 yards and two touchdowns in 15 career games. His combined quarterback rating in those games is just 72.2.

Description: Former Patriots backup quarterback Brian Hoyer will sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to an Adam Schefter report.
Insight: Hoyer has only thrown 43 passes in three NFL seasons, but Pittsburgh has run out of options with Ben Roethlisberger and Byron Leftwich hurt. Charlie Batch, 37-years-old, will start.
