Insight: Asik (5.8 ppg, 7.9 rpg in 2013-14) wanted out of Houston as soon as they signed Dwight Howard so now he's getting his wish. The Rockets are trying to free up cap room so they can make a run at Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James.

Insight: Asik (5.8 ppg, 7.9 rpg) was relevant for two weeks when Dwight Howard was out with an ankle injury but that's already come and gone. He'll play sparingly during the postseason.

Description: Houston center Omer Asik contributed 18 points, 23 rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots Sunday in a win against Denver.
Insight: Asik has been marvelous over the last five games, averaging 12.0 ppg, 16.8 rpg and 1.2 bpg during that stretch. His Achilles heel continues to be poor free throw shooting (59.3 percent for the season) but that's easy to overlook when you're getting a double-double every night.
3/24/2014 12:46:00 PM
Description: Rockets center Omer Asik has been starting in Dwight Howard's absence and is averaging 11 ppg and 8.3 rpg in the substitute role.
Insight: With Howard likely out again on Monday due to a mild ankle strain, Asik should continue to be a productive option.
3/17/2014 10:35:00 PM
Description: Rockets center Omer Asik stepped in for Dwight Howard and had 12 points, 11 rebounds and a block in 28 minutes Monday against the Jazz.
Insight: With Howard out with a mild ankle strain, Asik made his first start since Nov. 11. Howard's injury isn't believed to be serious, however.

Description: The Rockets are once again trying to trade center Omer Asik, according to cbssports.com.
Insight: The 76ers have reemerged as a potential landing spot for Asik. Houston attempted to trade Asik back in November but weren't enamored with any of the offers it received. Asik then sat out for two months with a knee injury and has played just 32 minutes total in the last three games. The Rockets have no place for him with Dwight Howard starting at center, but Asik did average 10.1 points, 11.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks last season and would see renewed fantasy value with a trade.

Insight: Asik is finally ready to see the court again after missing two months with a mysterious knee injury. If the Rockets want to showcase him for a possible trade (the deadline is February 20th), it's possible they could give Asik a heavy workload in his return. If he does remain in Houston past the deadline, it's unlikely Asik (4.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg) will be a factor down the stretch.

Description: Rockets center Omer Asik (knee, thigh) participated in shootaround Wednesday (non-contact) and could be cleared in the next 7-10 days, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: The Rockets attempted to trade the unhappy center earlier this season but didn't like any of the offers they received. His injuries have kept him out since Dec. 2. He only averaged 18.3 minutes, 4.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 0.4 blocks in 17 games this season after producing 10.1 points, 11.7 boards, 1.1 blocks in 30 minutes per game last season. The 27-year-old is likely to serve as Dwight Howard's backup and a defensive specialist off the bench when he returns.

Insight: Asik's slow recovery is making it hard to trade him, which has been Houston's goal since November. For what it's worth, the seven-footer hasn't appeared in a game since December 2nd.

Description: Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports Rockets center Omer Asik is close to returning from a knee injury.
Insight: He's hoping to be back by the end of the month. Asik (4.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg) hasn't appeared in a game since December 2nd.

Description: Cbssports.com NBA Insider Ken Berger reports that the Rockets expect to keep center Omer Asik past the trade deadline on Feb. 20.
Insight: Houston tried to trade Asik last month but didn't get any offers it liked. He hasn't played for the team since Dec. 2 due to dissatisfaction with his role as well as swelling in his knee. If he stays with the Rockets, he's unlikely to carry fantasy value as a backup center. The team already tried playing Asik and Dwight Howard together and it didn't work.

Description: The Rockets were planning on trading backup center Omer Asik on Thursday but they didn't get any offers they liked. SOURCE: Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo Sports
Insight: Yesterday, Asik to the Celtics looked like a sure thing but apparently the Rockets didn't think Boston's offer of Brandon Bass, Courtney Lee and a draft pick was enough. What Houston does with Asik now is anyone's guess.

Description: According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Rockets are hoping to trade center Omer Asik by this Thursday.
Insight: Stein expects the Sixers, Cavs and Hawks to all be involved. Asik has been sitting out with a bruised thigh though it's hard to tell if the injury is real or just an excuse the Rockets made up not to play him.
12/12/2013 11:47:00 AM
Description: Houston will be without center Omer Asik (bruised thigh) at least one more week.
Insight: It's no secret the team is trying to trade him. It's possible that Asik has played his last game as a Houston Rocket. We'll be able to get a better feel for his fantasy value after he's dealt.

Description: According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, it's no longer a question of if Rockets center Omer Asik will be traded, but when.
Insight: Asik was moved to the bench Wednesday in favor of Terrence Jones and then taken out of the rotation entirely after requesting a trade on Thursday. He's averaging 21 minutes, 5.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 0.6 blocks this season one year after starting all 82 games and averaging a double-double. The center has basically been begging the Rockets to trade him since they brought in Dwight Howard this past summer.

Insight: We've seen this before. Asik pouted when the Rockets first signed Dwight Howard and now he's doing it again. The Rockets experimented earlier in the year by playing him alongside Howard but they seem to be getting away from that now. For what it's worth, Asik is averaging 5.0 ppg and 7.2 rpg this season.

Description: Rockets center Omer Asik will start the season opener Wednesday against the Bobcats, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Rockets coach Kevin McHale is going with Patrick Beverley, James Harden, Chandler Parsons, Dwight Howard and Asik as his starting five to begin the season. While McHale is expected to shake up his lineups over the first two months, at least we know he'll try out playing Howard and Asik together instead of using Asik only as a backup center.
