Suns acquire Marcus Morris from Houston

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Suns have acquired forward Marcus Morris from the Houston Rockets in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2013 draft.

Morris was averaging 8.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 54 games, including 17 starts, for Houston this season. He has vastly improved from his rookie season of 2011-12 when he posted just 2.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in 17 games for the Rockets.

The 6-foot-9 Kansas product will join his identical twin Markieff in Phoenix. The Suns selected Markieff 13th overall in the 2011 draft and the Rockets chose Marcus with the very next pick.

"We have been intrigued for quite some time about the potential synergy from having both of the Morris twins on our team," said Suns president Lon Babby. "So we are excited to have the opportunity to welcome Marcus to the Suns."

The Suns created a roster spot for Marcus Morris by waiving forward Luke Zeller.

It's the second deal in less than 24 hours for the Rockets, who acquired another Kansas product in forward Thomas Robinson from Sacramento late Wednesday night as part of a six-player swap.
