Description: Blue Jays left-hander Mark Buehrle fired a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts against the woeful Houston Astros Thursday night.
Insight: Buehrle came in having allowed 139 hits and 66 earned runs in 123 innings this season, so facing the Astros was a nice relief for the left-hander. It doesn't mean that he's a fantasy option, however.
7/5/2013 10:50:00 PM
Description: Toronto lefthander Mark Buehrle threw seven shutout innings on the way to evening up his record to 5-5.
Insight: Buehrle had been ugly in his past two outings, yielding four earned runs in each. Despite the big effort, he's too inconsistent to be relied upon in any fantasy rotation with a 4.50 ERA and 1.363 WHIP.

Description: Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle has allowed 14 hits and 11 earned runs in 9 2/3 innings this season.
Insight: Buehrle pitched in the American League with the White Sox for his entire career prior to last season, but it's possible his stuff just isn't good enough anymore to get batters out.
9/30/2012 11:28:00 AM
Description: Marlins starter Mark Buehrle's status for his final start of the season is up in the air, manager Ozzie Guillen said on Saturday.
Insight: Buehrle (13-13, 3.74 ERA) just eclipsed 200 innings but it seems odd the team would feel the need to limit him given he's reached that plateau in 12-straight seasons. Wade LeBlanc would likely start in Buehrle's place.
5/26/2012 9:38:00 PM

Description: Mark Buehrle picked up his first win for Miami, giving up one run in eight innings while striking out five.
Insight: Buehrle has posted three straight quality starts to begin the season. He pitches to contact, so don't expect many strikeouts, but his low walk totals also keep his WHIP down. Just be prepared for the occasional shelling when he doesn't have his best command.
4/12/2011 9:01:00 AM
Description: White Sox SP Mark Buehrle allowed just 2 hits and a walk in 8 innings of shutout baseball, then watched as Chicago's bullpen gave the A's 2 runs; he struck out just one batter.
Insight: The trouble with Buehrle is you just never know if you will get a gem like this or if he will allow huge numbers across the board. Because of his inconsistency he is best left for use in AL-only formats.
4/1/2011 6:23:00 PM
Description: Mark Buerhle allowed four runs on eight hits and one walk over six innings today. He picked up a win in the process over the Indians.
Insight: Despite getting fantasy owners a win this wasn't a great start for Buehrle. His low strikeout rate (he didn't strike anyone out today) makes him a weak mixed league option for most of his starts.

Description: After getting shelled in his last start, Mark Buehrle allowed one run over five innings today.
Insight: We were never worried about him but we also don't see a lot of potential in him at this point either. He is a rotation filler but not a difference maker.

Description: Mark Buehrle gave up five runs over three innings today.
Insight: He threw two scoreless innings his last time out. We aren't worried about Buehrle. He is who he is - a reliable veteran with a low strikeout rate. He isn't a good mixed league option.
2/24/2011 7:06:00 PM
Description: The White Sox plan to start Mark Buehrle on opening day.
Insight: They have plenty of solid veterans but Buehrle is the old man on the staff and will get the nod out of respect. He has less fantasy value than most of the other starters because of his low strikeout rate.
2/24/2011 12:21:00 PM
Description: With the Cardinals suddenly without an ace, they could be interested in acquiring another SP; White Sox SP Mark Buehrle could be interested in moving to St. Louis. Buehrle, when asked about waiving his no-trade rights, said that "if it came down to it, I would do it for [White Sox chairman] Jerry [Reinsdorf] and the team because they have done enough for me."
Insight: The Cards will be associated with many starting pitchers as they look to replace the innings lost with Adam Wainwright's injury. For the time being, it is taking the spotlight away from the Pujols contract negotiation.
