Description: It looks like Aaron Cook is headed back to his old stomping grounds. Cook has agreed to a minor league deal with the Rockies according to the Denver Post.
Insight: Cook failed to secure a roster spot with the Phillies this spring and now he's back in the Mile High City where his career began back in 2002. Cook spent all of last season with the Red Sox, compiling a 4-11 record in 94 innings pitched. The last time Cook finished the year with an ERA under 4.00 was in 2008. Fantasy owners probably won't need to keep a close eye on him this year.

Description: The Phillies have signed former Boston starter Aaron Cook to a minor league contract.
Insight: Cook struck out only 20 batters in 18 starts last season while allowing opponents to hit .304 against him. It will be a miracle if Cook cracks the Phillies' starting rotation in 2013.

Description: Red Sox righthander Aaron Cook turned in one of his better starts of the season Monday night in a win versus Texas. In seven innings, Cook gave up just one run on six hits. He walked three and struck out two.
Insight: Josh Beckett's back injury probably bought Cook (3-5, 4.70 ERA) a few more turns in the starting rotation but he'll need to continue pitching like this if he wants to secure his spot once Beckett comes back.
7/16/2012 11:08:00 PM
Description: Red Sox starter Aaron Cook had his fourth straight solid start Monday against the White Sox, tossing seven innings and allowing just one unearned run on five hits in a no decision.
Insight: Cook (2-2, 3.34 ERA) didn't walk or strike out a batter. The right-hander has just two strikeouts and two walks in 29 2/3 innings this season, but he's getting positive results. Still, we don't expect it to last.

Description: Red Sox starter Aaron Cook followed up his two-hit shutout of Seattle with a quality start (6 IP, 3 ER) in a loss Wednesday against Oakland.
Insight: Cook (2-2, 4.37 ERA) has gone 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in three starts since he came off the disabled list. However, those starts came against Atlanta, Seattle and Oakland, so temper your expectations if you're going to add Cook.

Description: Aaron Cook was placed on the 15-day DL after getting spiked in the knee Saturday in his first start of the season.
Insight: Andrew Miller (6-3, 5.54 in 12 starts last season) was called up from Triple-A to occupy the open roster spot left by Cook's injury. Miller pitched 1.1 innings and struck out three batters Sunday in Boston's extra innings loss to the Orioles.
5/5/2012 4:58:00 PM
Description: Aaron Cook received 11 stitches in his leg following his start Saturday against the Orioles. Cook injured his leg while covering home on a play at the plate in the second inning.
Insight: Baltimore first baseman Chris Davis spiked Cook on his way home and Cook could never recover, allowing six runs in the third inning before eventually being replaced by Clayton Mortensen. Bobby Valentine acknowledged after the game that he may have been better off taking Cook out immediately instead of allowing him to continue pitching through the pain. Cook's status for Boston's next slate of games is uncertain.
5/5/2012 2:36:00 PM
Description: Baltimore lit up Aaron Cook on Saturday, scoring seven runs (six earned) or eight hits in 2 2/3 innings against the right-hander.
Insight: Cook was making his first start of the season in place of Josh Beckett. Considering the way he pitched on Saturday, it may have also been his last.
5/2/2012 7:50:00 PM
Description: Aaron Cook has been called up from Triple-A and he'll start in place of Josh Beckett Saturday against Baltimore.
Insight: Cook has been dominant in Triple-A (3-0, 1.89 ERA in five starts) and he has plenty of major league experience but we'll wait to see how he does against the Orioles before making any bold predictions. This appears to be just a spot start but if Cook impresses and Beckett's back continues to bother him, it could be more.
4/28/2012 7:45:00 PM
Description: Aaron Cook has been terrific for Triple-A Pawtucket this season (3-0, 1.33 ERA) and could be called up to the majors to provide Boston with some depth in the bullpen.
Insight: Cook could be a candidate for spot starts and maybe even a temporary position in the rotation if any of the Red Sox starters get injured. Other than that though, Cook won't have a ton of fantasy value.
2/25/2011 5:52:00 AM
Description: Aaron Cook will miss his first scheduled spring start because of soreness in his shoulder and a stomach ailment that caused him to miss three days of throwing.
Insight: Cook's low strikeout rate means that he isn't much of a fantasy option even when he is healthy. He should start the season on waivers in mixed leagues and is only a later-round NL-Only option.

Description: Aaron Cook came off the DL to earn a win in San Diego by holding the Padres to two runs over 6 1/3 innings.

8/4/2010 5:38:00 AM
Description: Aaron Cook allowed five runs in three innings last night, raising his ERA to 5.34.
Insight: The Rockies can't afford to use him and stay in the playoff race much longer. Look for him to be moved to the bullpen soon. He shouldn't be owned in any leagues.
7/30/2010 11:17:00 AM
Description: The Rockies are willing to get rid of Aaron Cook for a bullpen arm and a prospect.
Insight: Cook has struggled this season after performing nicely the past couple of years. With his ERA now over 5.00, his value continues to decrease, making him a low-end fantasy starting pitcher.
