Insight: That's because Rays starter Alex Cobb pitched seven shutout innings and the Rays finally broke through with three runs in the eighth. Still, the start is encouraging for Chen, who won his last start but really had not pitched up to his expectations since the middle of August. Insight: Chen, who is dealing with a strained oblique, hasn't pitched since May 12. Manager Buck Showalter said it's possible Chen will make just one rehab start. "I think it's just a test," Chen said. "Get the game feeling back and that's it. Right now I'm pitching like it's Spring Training. It's step by step. But if I feel really good [after the] next outing, I'll definitely come back really soon." Showalter said the team will give Chen extra rest between his first few outings after he comes off the DL.
