Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche is not in Monday night's starting lineup. Tyler Moore will get a start.
Insight: The noted second-half hitter is batting .311 this April with three homers and 10 RBI. This could be a good year to play LaRoche early as well as late ... just not on Monday night.

Hot4/13/2014 8:18:00 PM
Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday at Atlanta after getting a Golden Sombrero Saturday.
Insight: LaRoche hasn't encountered one of his typical extended April slumps yet. He's hitting .311 with three longballs, 10 RBI and 11 runs in 12 games.

Hot4/10/2014 8:43:00 PM
Description: Nats first baseman Adam LaRoche had two more hits Thursday and is hitting .344 with two homers, two doubles, nine RBI, eight runs and a 5/7 K/BB so far.

4/8/2014 10:30:00 PM
Description: Nats first baseman Adam LaRoche tagged three hits in Tuesday's night victory over Miami.
Insight: LaRoche is off to a nice start, hitting .348 with nine RBI in his first seven games. Tuesday was LaRoche's first three-hit game since June 25th.

3/31/2014 9:01:00 PM
Description: Washington first baseman Adam LaRoche took Mets starter Dillon Gee deep during Monday's season opener.
Insight: LaRoche came in hitting under .180 against Gee and .214/.306/.389 in March/April during his career, but he was able to get off to a great start. He hit just .237 with 19 doubles, 20 homers, 62 RBI and a .735 OPS in 2013, one year after batting .271 with 35 doubles, 33 homers, 100 RBI and an .853 OPS. Fantasy owners should have low expectations for the 34-year-old this season despite the positive results Monday.

3/31/2014 11:42:00 AM
Description: Washington first baseman Adam LaRoche won't be a strong fantasy option Monday against New York.
Insight: He's hitting just .174 versus Mets starter Dillon Gee. LaRoche was a disappointment last season, slugging just 20 HR a year after hitting 33 bombs with 100 RBI. LaRoche owners should go into this season with low expectations.

9/14/2013 3:50:00 PM
Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche is not in the lineup Saturday afternoon the Philles and left-hander Cole Hamels.
Insight: LaRoche has had success against Hamels, batting .294 with four homers and a 1.010 OPS, so this is a slight surprise.

8/22/2013 12:34:00 PM
Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche is not in the lineup Thursday afternoon against the Cubs.
Insight: LaRoche is getting a routine day off. He's hitting .267 with an .888 OPS and four homers in August.

Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche wasn't supposed to play Saturday against Atlanta. Instead, he lifted the team to victory with a solo shot in the 15th inning.
Insight: LaRoche entered the game as a defensive replacement in the eighth and eventually logged three at bats as the game dragged into extras. LaRoche, who struck out in his other two plate appearances, now has 18 long balls for the season.

Cold8/11/2013 10:27:00 AM
Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche is batting .286 with two home runs and a .946 OPS in eight games this month after a pitiful July, but he has a matchup Sunday that should be avoided.
Insight: LaRoche owns a .172 lifetime average (5-for-29) against Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick. The Nationals first baseman is batting .236 with a .735 OPS and 16 homers in 381 at-bats and batted .159 with a .511 OPS in July.

Cold8/9/2013 10:31:00 AM
Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche is hitless in 15 career at-bats against Phillies lefty John Lannan.

7/21/2013 8:37:00 PM
Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche returned from his flu Sunday and went 0-for-3 with two K against the Dodgers.
Insight: LaRoche maybe should have asked to sit out one more day with Clayton Kershaw on the mound. The first baseman's average is down 24 points from 2012 and he's on pace for 23 homers and 77 RBI per 647 plate appearances, which is what he had last year when he hit 33 homers and drove in 100 runs.

7/20/2013 3:43:00 PM
Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche, who was not in Friday night's lineup due to flu-like symptoms, is not in Saturday's lineup either.
Insight: LaRoche is historically one of the leagues' best second-half hitters with an OPS that jumps from .766 before the break to .886 after it. Chad Tracy will get the start, but with a .149 batting average and no power to speak of, he has no fantasy value.

Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche is 9-for-28 (.321) with four long balls versus Phillies lefty Cole Hamels.
Insight: Although LaRoche went hitless on Monday, he has raised his batting average 20 points over the past 19 games as he begins his usually second-half explosion a little early this season. He owns one of the biggest first half/second half OPS splits in all of basaeball - .771 before the All-Star break and .886 after it.

7/8/2013 10:15:00 AM

7/1/2013 10:27:00 AM
Description: Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche has been fantastic with Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo on the hill.
Insight: LaRoche has gone 8-for-24 (.333) with two doubles, two homers, five RBI and three walks in his career against the Milwaukee hurler, Monday's scheduled starter versus Washington. LaRoche batted .287 with an .807 OPS in June, thought he only hit two homers in the month.
